Mini Wooden Houses

I got given the beach house set for Christmas and...my family didn't see me for a week during these projects! I absolutely love these sets - they're so much fun to build and I think I've found my new favourite passion.

I bought mine from Rylai off amazon but there are plenty of other brands that make things like this. Initially, I started with the slightly smaller kits in a big glass bauble to practise (also because these are less expensive - about £15/20, in contrast to the £45 larger type). Not sure I'd recommend the smaller ones as they don't look as professional and I spent a majority of the time getting eye sight problems from using tweezers.

Everything comes within the kit except glue and scissors and it is all very clearly labelled. My top tips would be:

  • using fabric glue to stick the wooden pieces together - dries quicker than PVA

  • leave the main structure overnight to dry so the walls don't fall over

  • be brave enough to do the lighting, it pays off so much

  • Leather is really hard to stick on so don't do the folding allowance it tells you to

  • TWEEZERS are you're best friend!

I think next on my agenda is the greenhouse one or a cafe design so let me know if anyone has tried them out successfully, I would love to hear how you got on!
