Whenever someone I know has a birthday or event coming up, I most look forward to making them a special personalised card. (Well probably the cake as well). Despite not being the best at calligraphy and with the trusty art GCSE under my belt, I felt as ready as anyone. Homemade cards always touch people in a special way or at least make up for the slightly shabby present!
They don't even have to be colourful. I usually start with the generic google search: 'homemade card ideas' and if all else fails, look up some nice swirly font to write Happy Birthday in. You don't have to be good at drawing - all the best artists started with tracing or careful planning out which takes at least 30 mins.
They are suitable for most occasions (just change the words). I like to use different materials, such as coloured paper, to really make them pop. I think my next wish would be to go on a calligraphy course or get one of those fancy pen but oh well a girl can dream.
